Commercial Garage Masonry in Vars
Permacon Melville Slik brick veneer in Range Newport Grey over reinforced 8-inch CMU, with grout targeting 20 MPa, epoxy-anchored steel angles, foundation flashing and a self-adhered SOPRASEAL membrane.
Project Overview
A complete masonry wall assembly for a commercial garage
Ottawa Masonry Contracting Inc. built the reinforced 8-inch CMU wall system and installed the steel-angle support, foundation flashing, self-adhered membrane and Permacon Melville Slik brick veneer in Range Newport Grey for this commercial garage in Vars, Ontario.
Grout was placed in every fourth cell, at corners and on both sides of openings. The masonry grout was adjusted on site to target 20 MPa.
The steel angles were anchored to the concrete foundation with Cobra concrete anchors and epoxy in the drilled holes. Foundation flashing and a self-adhered SOPRASEAL membrane were installed over the CMU behind the brick veneer.
Permacon Melville Slik brick in Range Newport Grey was then installed across the long elevations and around the large garage openings, creating a clean transition beneath the light metal cladding.
The Masonry Work
CMU grouting, anchored steel support, base waterproofing and brick installation
The work was sequenced to grout selected CMU cells, secure the brick-support angles, install the base flashing and membrane, and keep the finished veneer aligned around long walls and commercial openings.
CMU Grouting and Wall Preparation
Every fourth cell, the corners and both sides of openings were grouted with a site-adjusted masonry grout targeting 20 MPa.
Anchored Steel Support and Base Waterproofing
Steel angles were secured to the concrete with Cobra anchors and epoxy in the drilled holes. Foundation flashing and a self-adhered SOPRASEAL membrane were installed over the CMU behind the brick veneer.
Brick Veneer Installation
Range Newport Grey brick was installed with consistent courses, corners and transitions beneath the metal exterior.
