Custom Stone & Brick Fireplaces in Ottawa
Architectural fireplace masonry designed around the room, selected materials, appliance requirements and the exact scope of construction.
A Fireplace That Belongs in the Architecture
A fireplace can become the centre of a living room, patio or outdoor entertaining area. The masonry must complement the wall proportions, nearby finishes and the style of the property—not simply cover the surface.
Ottawa Masonry Contracting Inc. installs custom brick and stone masonry for indoor and outdoor fireplace projects across Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. Before the scope is finalized, we review the desired style, available dimensions, selected fireplace unit, substrate and construction details.
Stone distribution, corners, joint colour, caps, hearths, mantels and transitions are considered together so the finished feature looks intentional from every viewing angle.

Decorative Finish or Complete Fireplace Assembly?
Masonry Finish
A stone or brick surround is commonly installed as a decorative veneer over an approved substrate and around a selected appliance. The quotation defines preparation, veneer, corners, mortar, hearth and other included details.
Complete Assembly
A firebox, flue, chimney or fully masonry outdoor fireplace is a larger construction scope requiring approved drawings, support details, clearances and coordination. It is included only when expressly written into the proposal.
Scope clarity: The fireplace appliance, gas, electrical work, chimney system, structural engineering and manufacturer-required components are not included unless specifically stated. Approved plans and applicable clearances must be confirmed before masonry installation.
Fireplace Masonry FAQ
Can an existing fireplace be refaced?
Often, yes, when the existing assembly and substrate are suitable for the proposed material. A review of the visible conditions and appliance details helps determine the required preparation.
Do you build indoor and outdoor fireplaces?
We provide masonry for both settings. The quotation states whether the work covers the brick or stone finish only or includes additional masonry components based on approved plans.
What is needed for a precise estimate?
Send photographs, wall dimensions, the fireplace manufacturer and model, drawings, selected material and the desired hearth or mantel details. Complete information produces a clearer scope.
